Don't you just love the telephone calls that you get from your doctor saying, "the medication you are taking does not seem to be working, so you need to go on a low fat-low cholesterol diet"! Well, that is a call I got a few weeks ago. The hardest thing about this whole thought process is the fact I hate the word DIET! I believe it is a word that should be banned and vanished because that tiny little four letter word puts all of these stupid thoughts in people's mind! When you tell people they cannot have something, it automatically triggers this thought in your mind that you want that 'something' really bad and will end up benching on it. Regardless, once again I had to change the way I eat and now I am focusing on more low fat and low cholesterol foods. Which means a lot of fruit and vegetables (which I never minded) but it is all of the little things that seem to be grabbing my crawl!
Be careful of things you read about and they sound good... what is good for one person may not be good you! I have always considered myself to be an okay eater. I have never ate a lot of red meat or pork, the vegetables I like, I really like but the ones I hate, I really hate. So what I am hoping to do is take you through a walk of how I am changing regular foods to be more low fat/low cholesterol friendly.
Here a few good books..the books published by the American Heart Association are the books I started with (but have not used yet). You do not have to deprive yourself of anything, you just have to be careful how it is made and the ingredients you use!!
